Snakes in Leonida
Snakes are reptiles that appeared in Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online and are due to appear again in Grand Theft Auto VI. Their prior appearances were largely decorative: two static snakes sit in terrariums at the Vanilla Unicorn strip club and the Yellow Jack Inn, never moving or acting as interactive objects, while a live snake also turned up in an in-game commercial for the Grand Senora Desert. The scale pattern used on the model was based on that of the Gaboon viper.
GTA VI confirmation
Snakes are confirmed to return in Grand Theft Auto VI. No trailer moment, screenshot, promotional image, or named GTA VI location has been identified for them, and no GTA VI-specific behaviour or interaction has been described.
The confirmation should not be treated as evidence that the earlier terrarium presentation will return unchanged. The available information establishes their presence in the game, but does not show whether they will be living wildlife, decorative models, or used in another form.
Desert commercial footage
Grand Theft Auto V’s television advertisement for the Grand Senora Desert included a living snake. It also referred to rattlesnakes through warning signs, although those rattlesnakes were not seen as animals within the desert itself.
The rattlesnake imagery in that commercial used temporary stock footage. This makes the commercial snake separate from the two in-world display specimens and from the unseen rattlesnakes named by the desert warnings.
Viper-inspired scale pattern
The snake model’s scales were patterned after the Gaboon viper, a real species of viper. That influence concerns the appearance of the scales rather than a confirmed identification of the in-game animal as a Gaboon viper.
Earlier in-game snakes were limited to non-moving terrarium objects at the Vanilla Unicorn and the Yellow Jack Inn. They did not function as active animals, while the commercial’s live snake appeared only in filmed advertising footage.
